Why We Built This Reference
The end of printed resident books did not erase Spokane's underlying records. It spread them among custodians. Spokane County's Assessor and Auditor hold property clues, election officials manage voter data under Washington law, and historical volumes remain with Spokane Public Library and the state archives. We bring together the official search routes, office contacts, coverage dates, and access rules so a present-day address question and a family-history question do not get sent to the same desk.
What the Guide Contains
- Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
- The rolls and offices: assessor, recorder, elections office, court clerk, vital records, the library's local history collection
- Walkthroughs: how to trace who lives on a street, how to read a directory entry, how to follow a household across the decades
- Access rules: what Washington law opens, what stays closed, and how a records request works when something is not online
What Remains Outside Our Role
This is a privately run reference site, not part of the City of Spokane, Spokane County, Washington State, any court, or any library. Those boundaries mean:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Spokane
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot guarantee that each link, fee, office detail, or coverage year remains current
Confirmation, certification, and correction belong to the record custodian. Site results may not support credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
